Fetal and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) occurs in ~1 in 1000 births, but is frequently not recognized until birth of an affected infant. When this occurs a thorough serologic workup is required to then confirm a clinical diagnosis of FNAIT. This presentation will discuss clinical findings in infants with FNAIT and methods used in an optimum laboratory workup.  The lecture will also provide information helpful in determining the risk that any future pregnancies will be affected by FNAIT.

Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is one of the most common inherited bleeding disorders. This presentation will discuss how assembling knowledge of a patient's clinical presentation, laboratory data, disease inheritance and defects, coupled with diagnostic molecular testing for newly identified variants of VWD, can be complementary for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of a patient with VWD. Optimal matching of hematopoietic cell transplant donors and recipients is based on multiple factors, but with a primary consideration given to the level of HLA genotype matching.  Clinical complications post-transplant suggest that there is still much room for improvement in this matching process, and the additional HLA-allele level information provided by NGS typing should impact matching algorithms and improve overall patient outcomes long-term.
